PNAS ELECTS NEW OFFICERS

The PNAS elected a new set of officers for the year 2000. The elections were held in November 1999,  at the Ha Yuan Restaurant at West Avenue, Quezon City. A total of 60 members voted. Elected members of the Board were Mariano Cacho, Jr., Antonio Teh, Antonio Bantug, Jr., Rufinio  Fermin, Rodolfo Irasga, Jr., Ramon Villegas, Edward Nocom, Alberto Montilla, Paul Brombal, and Benito Manalo, Jr.
Mr. Cacho, a retired banker, is a devoted numismatist who has a distinctive collection of pre Spanish and Spanish era Philippine materials. Mr. Teh, the former PNAS president, is also an avid numismatist. Mr. Bantug, being one of the great grandsons of Rizal, has a deep interest in Rizaliana, Filipiniana and religious artifacts. Mr. Fermin is a philatelists and numismatist. Mr. Irasga, a former activist, is a deltiologist (postcard collector) who also has  a passion for Filipiniana ephemera. Mr. Villegas is a researcher on art history, author of several books, and a famous jewelry and artifacts collector.
Mr. Nocom, a Filipino Chinese, is a known philatelist and deltiologist who has now diversified into stereopticon view card collecting. Mr. Montilla is also a deltiologist and at the same time maps and World War II collector. Mr. Brombal is one of the American dealers who regularly come to the country with his gold and silver coins and rare medals and watches. Mr. Manalo, who was formerly connected with the San Miguel Corporation, is a collector of advertising memorabilia and Filipiniana ephemera.
The new Board met on December 1999 at Greenhills, San Juan, and elected the following officers: Mariano Cacho, Jr., President; Antonio Bantug, Jr., Vice- President;  Walberto de Jesus, Treasurer; Rodolfo Irasga, Jr., Secretary; and Edward Nocom, Auditor.
